Overview
Joseph Welsh joined the firm in 2022. His practice includes subrogation, premises liability, property damage, construction accidents, and wrongful death claims. He has earned a reputation among his clients and adversaries as someone who looks past the minutiae and gets right to the heart of the case in an expeditious and effective way. This has helped create an atmosphere of honest and upfront negotiations, which in turn, often leads to swift and fair resolutions.
Joseph brings over a decade of defense litigation experience, having tried numerous cases to verdict. He is experienced in all facets of litigation as well as alternative dispute resolution. He frequently represents large multi-unit residential and commercial buildings; insurers and property owners facing large water- and fire-loss related actions; a large supermarket chain, and; general contractors, subcontractors, and homeowners in connection with New York State Labor Law claims.
Prior to joining Goetz Schenker, Joseph was an associate at a law firm frequently retained by one of the nation’s largest insurers to represent their policy holders in the context of premises and construction accidents and also represented various municipalities.
In addition to his civil litigation experience, Joseph spent the first seven years of his professional career as a criminal defense attorney in New York City, where he honed his trial and oral advocacy skills.
