Overview
Robert G. Schenker is a founding partner of Goetz Schenker Blee & Wiederhorn and the managing partner of the firm’s New York office. With more than 30 years of experience exclusively in the insurance defense field, he focuses his practice primarily in the areas of New York state labor law, construction defect, product liability and premises liability matters, as well as complex coverage issues.
Robert built a successful excess monitoring program for several insurance companies, particularly in the New York Labor Law field, putting him at the forefront of a movement encouraging direct early negotiations on complex claims between counsel and eliminating the need for costly and protracted litigation for his clients. The program, which exemplifies his unique skills in settlement negotiations, earned Robert a strong reputation for practical and innovative approaches to complex litigation, as well as a high level of trust with the most talented plaintiffs firms in this field.
Robert earned his undergraduate degree from Syracuse University in 1981 and his law degree from the University of Miami School of Law in 1984. He was admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey in 1985, in addition to many U.S. District Courts and U.S. Courts of Appeal. He frequently lectures on the importance of the relationship between counsel and claims, and is an avid Syracuse Orange fan, traveler, and golfer.
