Overview
Robert Meyerson joined Goetz Schenker Blee & Wiederhorn in 2009 and is currently a senior partner in the firms New York office.
A substantial portion of Robert’s practice is focused on construction injury litigation, where he regularly represents property owners, contractors, construction managers, and managing agents in claims involving alleged violation of the New York State Labor Law. His clients also include engineering firms, demolition contractors, steam-fitting contractors, electrical contractors, plumbing contractors, as well as masonry and fabricating companies.
Robert’s practice also includes insurance coverage litigation. This includes issuing coverage opinions to primary and excess insurance companies, prosecuting and defending declaratory judgement actions in both state and federal court. In addition, Robert is regularly retained directly by excess and umbrella insurance companies to monitor and perform risk exposure analysis of catastrophic bodily injury claims.
Robert also has extensive experience defending business owners, including restaurants and hospitality establishments in federal and state wage and hour class action lawsuits and represents corporate and individual clients in discrimination matters, including disability, age, and race claims.
In addition to his litigation experience, Robert is a regulator contributor to periodicals and publications disseminated to insurance companies addressing statutory and case-law developments occurring in the New York State Labor Law and has provided lectures and educational seminars to the insurance industry on issues, such as, contractual indemnifications and its impact on statutory liability, New York’s General Obligation Law, the parameters of New York’s Grave-Injury law and its impact on common law claims against employers and the changing landscape of New York’s wrongful death statute.
Prior to law, Robert worked for City of New York Department of Parks and Recreation as a Rockaway Beach Lifeguard. An avid runner, Robert completed the New York City Marathon on multiple occasions.
